How-To Guides for Grantees: Metrics and Lessons Learned Share: Facebook LinkedIn Twitter The primary purpose of a grant’s output and outcome metrics is to test hypotheses and create learnings that can drive continuous improvement for the grantee and the Kauffman Foundation. Downloads How-To Guide: Report on Performance Metrics pdf How-To Guide: Develop Lessons Learned pdf Metrics are one of several important sources of evidence that the Kauffman Foundation relies on to understand and learn from the work of grantees. Because the primary purpose of the metrics (outputs and outcomes) is to drive reflection and ground insights, they are often a great place to start thinking about lessons learned at the end of the grant. The Foundation uses two guides to evaluate a grant’s performance: How-To Guide: Report on Performance Metrics, which provides an overview of best practices and some things to avoid when reporting on your outputs and outcomes for progress and final reports.How-To Guide: Develop Lessons Learned, which gives tips for how to create a strong lesson learned. Crafting clear lessons during and after a grant are a key component of strong reporting. Grantees: If you have any questions about either of these guides, please contact your program officer.
